About Us

Lakeland Hills Jewish Center is a family friendly, intimate, egalitarian, Conservative Jewish congregation in Wanaque, NJ. serving the communities of Ringwood, Wanaque, West Milford, Riverdale, Butler, Haskell, and Franklin Lakes.

We are located in a beautiful, heavily forested, suburban/rural section of northern New Jersey, an area full of mountains and lake communities, including Greenwood Lake, a body of water almost as large as Manhattan island.

This area is ideal for a family with a love of the out-of-doors… active recreation (hiking/biking/skiing/boating) as well as passive (wildlife watching, local botanical gardens) are local and very popular here, yet within view of the Manhattan skyline.

Good local schools, almost non-existant crime, and despite the proximity to New York City, relatively low housing costs make this a very attractive area to relocate to.

Lakeland Hills is small enough to make any newcomer feel immediately at home, and established enough to offer such services as a Hebrew School for children, a Sisterhood, and adult education for those older along with our annual Kosher Wine Tastings, Broadway shows, and other social events

Lakeland Hills Jewish Center is very popular with Jewish families who have recently moved to northern New Jersey and are seeking out a Jewish community and community life.

Religious services, done in both English and Hebrew, are traditional in nature with men and women taking an equal role. Women are called to the Torah and are counted in the minyan along with men. Children from the Hebrew School actively participate in, and often lead services.

Shabbat services are held every Friday night at 8PM, and on alternating Saturday mornings at 9:30 AM.
